Mitsubishi HC Capital UK PLC's board has an oversight role, delegating day-to-day responsibility for managing the Group's business to the executive team and holding the Chief Executive Officer to account.

Alan Hughes

Chair

Alan had 35 years with HSBC, rising to its UK executive board as General Manager. He held responsibility for all products, service, pricing and marketing. He was Chief Executive of First Direct Bank, ran significant subsidiaries of HSBC and was a main board director of its commercial asset finance group. He was responsible for commercial invoice finance throughout HSBC Group. Alan serves as Chairman of Equals Group plc and Chairman of Unity Trust Bank plc. He is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, a prize winner in the Institute’s professional qualifications and has taught banking. He holds an MBA from Henley Management College. He was a visiting lecturer at Warwick University and Oxford University’s Saïd Business School and served as Pro-Chancellor and Deputy Chair of Council at Loughborough University. Alan was appointed to the Board as Deputy Chair and Senior Independent Director in February 2017 and succeeded Guy Munnoch as Chair on 1 August 2022. He is also chair of the Remuneration Committee, chair of the Nomination Committee and a member of the Group Audit Committee and the Group Risk Committee.

Robert Gordon

Chief Executive Officer

With over 30 years’ experience within the finance industry, Robert was appointed as CEO for the Group in April 2015, bringing with him an established record of leadership, profit growth and progression. Since joining the company as the Business Finance Managing Director in 2006, Group Finance Director in September 2006 and Chief Operating Officer in June 2011, Robert has steered the group’s direction with his expertise and commitment to the business. Robert is a member of the Nomination Committee and also the Corporate Officer for Mitsubishi HC Capital Inc., the parent company of Mitsubishi HC Capital UK PLC.

Sian Herbert

Independent Non-Executive Director

Sian Herbert has had an extensive City career spanning 35 years within audit, financial crime, risk and regulation, and change focusing on the financial services and technology sectors. She gained 25 years’ experience at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (‘PwC’), including fifteen years as Partner, stepping down in June 2020. At PwC, Sian was a partner within the forensic services group, becoming an established expert in financial services, e-money and payment services, advising on financial crime, risk, regulatory change and the impact of technology. As well as being a member of the ICAEW, Sian is also a Member of the Hong Kong Society of Accountants. She previously held a position as a non-executive director and chair of the Audit Committee of HBL Bank UK Limited. In October 2020 she was appointed to the Board of Equals Group Plc, a payments services Fintech, as chair of the Audit Committee and chair of the Risk Committee. Sian is chair of the Group Audit Committee and the Group Risk Committee and a member of the Remuneration Committee and the Nomination Committee.

Masaki Mizutani

Non-Executive Director, representative of Shareholder

Masaki was appointed director in May 2023 and has over 35 years’ experience in the leasing industry following an extensive career with MHC in Japan. Prior to joining the company, Masaki held the position of Deputy Chief Executive Officer at asset finance company Vestone Capital, the joint venture in the Macquarie Group in Sydney. He was appointed Deputy CEO in February 2021 when Mitsubishi HC Capital became an equal shareholder, where he was responsible for supporting management team and developing relationships with Japanese companies in Australia. Masaki also spent 2 years in New York as President of Mitsubishi UFJ Lease & Finance (USA), Inc. having commenced his career with Diamond Lease, an MUFG affiliate. Masaki holds an MBA from the University of Michigan. He is a member of the Group Audit Committee, the Group Risk Committee, the Remuneration Committee and the Nomination Committee.

The Executive Team

The executive team is responsible for leading the day-to-day management of the Group. It agrees the vision, mission, strategy and values, in alignment with those of the shareholder, for recommendation to the board for approval.

Robert Gordon

Mitsubishi HC Capital UK PLC Chief Executive Officer

With over 30 years’ experience within the finance industry, Robert was appointed as CEO for the company in April 2015, bringing with him an established record of leadership, profit growth and progression. Since joining as the Business Finance Managing Director in 2006, Group Finance Director in September 2006 and Chief Operating Officer in June 2011, Robert has steered the Group’s direction with his expertise and commitment to the business. Robert commenced his career with Touche Ross in Australia and the United Kingdom in Audit and Management Consulting. He later gained banking and Treasury experience with Greyhound Bank PLC and eventually lead Finova’s European and African aircraft and asset leasing operation for over 10 years. Robert is also Senior Corporate Officer for Mitsubishi HC Capital Inc., the parent company of Mitsubishi HC Capital UK PLC. He is an Economics graduate from Adelaide University and a qualified Chartered Accountant.

Vincent Reboul

Managing Director, Novuna Consumer Finance

Vincent has 18 years of experience and a track record of growing businesses in financial services, retail banking and e-commerce. He has held leadership roles at household names such as Bank of America, M&S Money, HSBC, Very.com and as General Manager of UK Credit for PayPal.

Dilek Mackenzie

Managing Director, European vendor finance

Dilek was appointed director in 2012, having worked for the company since 2003, during which time she has held a number of senior and strategic leadership roles. Dilek heads up the European Division, the entity responsible for developing business across Europe with shareholder group companies and their key accounts. She has been instrumental in the growth and expansion of the European Division, taking it from a team of 3 in 2013 to a team of 40+ that it is today with offices located in London (head office), Amsterdam, Dublin, Helsinki and a transactional capability in Belgium. Dilek has an MBA and BSc in Business Administration and has gained over 25 years of experience working for financial institutions across EMEA.

Andy Dodd

Managing Director, Novuna Business Cash Flow

Andy joined the company in August 2016 as Managing Director for the Business Cash Flow division, bringing with him over 25 years of financial services experience. He began his career at Barclays Bank before moving to roles at Euro Sales Finance and RBS. He was part of the management team which started Liquidity Ltd in 2004, an independent sales finance business based in the Midlands, as Operations Director his responsibilities included the implementation of new systems and processes as well as looking after the relationship management and credit functions. When Liquidity was purchased by Santander in 2009, Andy continued to drive innovation throughout the business as Head of Product Delivery, implementing a number of cross functional systems and controls as well as integration into the main banking operation. Andy is an active member within the ABFA (the Asset Based Finance Association) and previously sat on the Executive Committee.

Jon Lawes

Managing Director, Novuna Vehicle Solutions

Jon is our Managing Director for Novuna Vehicle Solutions, one of the UK's top 10 leasing companies with an end-to-end decarbonisation approach that makes us unique in the UK market. Jon has made an impressive and impactful contribution to the division’s successful growth with nearly 30 years’ experience in the fleet and leasing industry, having started my career at Wincanton Vehicle Rentals in 1993. Jon is passionate about supporting businesses to transition to a net zero fleet, from vehicles and charging infrastructure to data analysis and energy storage. He was a founding member of Optimise Prime, the largest EV infrastructure trial which seeks to establish the suitability of the UK network for the mass adoption of electric vehicles in the UK. Jon has been a member of the BVRLA Committee of Management since 2015 and was promoted to Vice Chair in April 2021. and is also a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.

Geoff Maleham

Managing Director, Novuna Business Finance

Geoff has 20 years of asset finance experience having worked for Abbey and ING Lease in various credit risk roles before joining the company in 2013 as a Senior Credit Manager. Geoff has held a number of risk positions since joining the Grouptransitioning from Head of Flow Underwriting and Head of Credit into the wider role of Head of Risk for the Business Finance division. He is a member of the Finance and Leasing Association Asset Finance Division committee and sits on their broker and intermediary team.

John Shiels

Mitsubishi HC Capital UK PLC Chief Risk Officer

With over 25 years’ experience in compliance, risk, finance and general management, John has a strong background in the financial services industry, holding senior positions at Clydesdale Bank, Virgin Money and RBS. Before joining the Group, John’s most recent role was at online investment service, Interactive Investor where he oversaw all aspects of risk, compliance and financial crime.

Nat Sims

Mitsubishi HC Capital UK PLC Legal Director and Company Secretary

Nat joined the company as its first in-house lawyer in 2000 and has led the Group Legal function ever since. He was appointed Company Secretary in 2001. Soon after qualifying as a solicitor at a commercial law firm in London, Nat moved in-house and gained 6 years' financial services experience with Volkswagen Financial Services before joining the business. He qualified as a Chartered Secretary in 2011 and was elected as a Fellow of ICSA: The Governance Institute in 2012. Nat represents the Group on the Legal Committee of the Finance & Leasing association, which he has chaired since 2008.

Andy Murdoch

Mitsubishi HC Capital UK PLC Group Director of Operations

Andy has over 25 years’ experience in finance and general management, primarily in the financial services industry. He was appointed director in 2019 and has worked in a variety of roles with the company since 2006, most recently as Head of Change Management. He previously held senior positions with Centrica and GE Capital. Andy is a qualified Chartered Accountant with direct responsibility for Group Change and Business Continuity across the business.

Nick Broughton

Mitsubishi HC Capital UK PLC Chief Information Officer

Nick joined the company in March 2019 as Head of IT Transformation and Governance, before becoming Interim Group IT Director, and now CIO. He previously headed up Applications Development for Hallmark Cards in the UK and prior to this was Acting Global CIO for Alere Inc, where he led IT in the US, Europe and Japan. He has also held senior strategic and operational leadership roles at Capita IT Services, Cable & Wireless and Energis. Prior to this he had a background in Programme and Project Management at Yorkshire Electricity and 10 years IT operations experience at Tilcon. Nick is responsible for Group IT and digital operational development across Mitsubishi HC Capital UK PLC.

Neil Hayward

Mitsubishi HC Capital UK PLC Group HR Director

Neil joined the company in 2000 as Personnel Manager for the Vehicle Solutions division. Having carried out a number of Head of HR roles over the years across the business, Neil became Group HR Director in April 2019 after seven months as interim. Neil worked in both the public and private sector in HR positions prior to joining the business. As the company has grown, Neil has led many of the HR change programmes and been involved in acquisitions in both the UK and Europe. Neil is a graduate and Associate of Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

David Corbitt

Mitsubishi HC Capital UK PLC Group Finance Director

David joined the company as Group Financial Controller in January 2017. He was appointed Group Finance Director in May 2021 after eight months as joint interim CFO. David previously held Group Financial Controller roles outside of the financial services industry for 10 years. He trained in financial auditing and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Grant Thornton in 2008 before moving into M&A Financial Diligence at PwC. David has a chemistry degree from the University of Warwick.

Theresa Lindsay

Mitsubishi HC Capital UK PLC Group Marketing Director

Theresa joined the business in 2013 to develop and launch the Group's first direct to consumer personal finance channel, creating the digital marketing infrastructure for the business as a whole and repositioning the brand in the process. With over 30 years industry experience, Theresa has held senior positions both agency and client side, in marketing & business development across a wide range of industry sectors, building the strategy to deliver more effective customer engagement across an number of channels. This includes both retail and corporate finance to over a decade in international marketing as Director of Business Development & Marketing for one of the largest Government agencies tasked with securing global investment into the UK. As Group Marketing Director, Theresa is responsible for the overall brand strategy across all marketing channels in the Group. She is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

Yoko Hitosugi Bessey

Mitsubishi HC Capital UK PLC General Manager CEO Office & CSR

Yoko Hitosugi Bessey joined the company in 2009 as the assistant to the CEO. Since then, she has held a number of roles mainly supporting the CEO, focusing on developing and maintaining smooth and trusted relations with the company’s key stakeholders. For the past few years, Yoko has been leading the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility agenda, supporting the company’s enhanced sustainability programme across all business activities, aligning business and strategy with the United Nations' Sustainable Business Development goals. Prior to joining Hitachi Capital, Yoko worked for various blue chip Japanese organisations, both in Japan and the UK including JR Central and KDDI, building her knowledge and experience. Yoko is a graduate with a degree in English language and literature.
